Seniors Isah Furr and Jahzaier Gray spoke with Redcat Brew students this week, sharing what they’ve learned from working on the school’s coffee cart. They discussed developing customer-service skills, managing daily operations, and building confidence through hands-on experience. Their visit offered younger students insight into the responsibilities and teamwork that help keep Redcat Brew running smoothly.

Jahze is a senior at Bay View High School and a first-year reporter for The Oracle. He has a strong interest in aerospace and plans to pursue studies in the field after graduation. In his free time, he enjoys researching rocket designs and writing reports on space-related topics.

My name is Mr. Schmieding, and I am an eighth-year teacher at Bay View High School. I view writing as a tool for developing self-awareness, improving observation, and clearly communicating ideas with breadth and purpose. My academic and professional background includes film, acting, coaching, and social studies, all of which inform my perspective that we are consistently engaging with the social sciences in everyday life.
I hold degrees in Political Science, Social Studies Education, and Educational Administration. I live on the North Shore with my wife and two children. Outside of school, I enjoy everything the state has to offer, from nature trails to the Wisconsin Badgers.
I was raised in Madison, Wisconsin, and spent time living in California before moving to Milwaukee, which has been my home for the past 17 years
