Bay View High School’s winter athletic season was defined by grit, growth, and recognition, as student-athletes across boys basketball, girls basketball, and wrestling earned top honors in the Milwaukee City Conference.
Leading the way on the mat, three standout wrestlers, Janiyah Brister-Howell, Leylani Rivera, and Britney Juarez-Salgado, captured All-Conference honors through dominant performances and consistent determination throughout the season. Each wrestler demonstrated resilience and technical skill, helping elevate Bay View’s presence in the conference and setting a high standard for the program.
On the hardwood, the boys basketball team delivered one of its most successful seasons in recent memory, highlighted by multiple All-Conference selections. Darryl Cooks Jr. led the charge, earning First Team All-Conference honors and being named Conference MVP after a season marked by leadership, scoring ability, and all-around excellence. He was joined on the First Team by Daquell Dates, whose consistent impact on both ends of the floor made him a key contributor.
Additional recognition came for Dyeiontai Perry, who earned Second Team All-Conference honors, and Isaiah Wade, who received Honorable Mention. Guiding the team’s success was head coach Damon Landrum, whose leadership and vision earned him Milwaukee City Conference Coach of the Year honors.
The girls’ basketball team also made its mark, showcasing both individual excellence and team development. Passion Carter and Natalya McDonald were named First Team All-Conference, recognizing their standout performances and leadership on the court.
Growth and dedication were also celebrated, as Adriana Sanabria-Pereira earned Most Improved Player honors, reflecting her hard work and development over the season. On the defensive end, Kamya Gill was recognized as an All-Defensive Team selection for her relentless effort and ability to disrupt opposing offenses.
Together, these honors reflect more than individual achievement; they represent a culture of commitment, teamwork, and pride within Bay View athletics. From the wrestling mats to the basketball courts, Bay View athletes have proven they can compete at the highest level while representing their school with determination and excellence.
