One of Milwaukee’s oldest and most spirited high school football competitions was renewed on October 9, 2025, as the Bay View Redcats clashed with the North Division Blue Devils for their annual homecoming showdown.
The rivalry game, which always carries significance beyond football alone, took place under the lights at Pulaski High School Stadium. The stands were filled with spirited students, cheerleaders, and alumni—celebrating a tradition that runs deeper than the game itself: one rooted in school spirit, neighborhood pride, and historical legacy.
Bay View struck first when quarterback Larry McCain punched in a 3-yard sneak for the touchdown, giving the Redcats a 6-0 lead and igniting the homecoming crowd.
After the game, head coach Anthony Wiggins reflected on his team’s performance.“We could have done better—there were a lot of mistakes we made,” Wiggins said. “If we went into games more prepared, it would help us not only in that game but in others down the road.”
Wiggins added that the annual rivalry “showcases the heart of Milwaukee high school sports, where every play becomes a part of a legacy.”
Defensive coach Justin Ankley agreed that the team left room for improvement.“I feel like the team made a lot of mistakes, and the score should have been way worse than what it was,” Ankley said. “When our starters come out, the talent drop really shows.”
Despite the challenges, both coaches pointed to major accomplishments this season.“We won our conference and made the playoffs—something we haven’t done since 2017,” Wiggins said.
Ankley added that helping lead the team to the playoffs and a city championship were highlights of his coaching tenure.
As Bay View prepared for postseason play, both coaches set clear goals for the team’s future. “One of our biggest goals is to raise our team GPA and get full commitment to offseason workouts,” Wiggins said.
Ankley emphasized “100 percent participation in offseason workouts” and continued focus on building strength and football IQ in the weight room.
When asked how the team is preparing for the playoffs, Wiggins summed it up simply: “We’re running everything—every play we’ve got.”
The Redcats’ dedication and resilience continue to define their season and remind fans why Bay View vs. North Division remains one of Milwaukee’s most cherished high school football rivalries.
