The track and field team delivered one of its most dominant performances of the decade at the Doug Johnson Invite on Friday, March 21, just before heading into spring break. The girls’ team secured a first-place finish with 100 points, while the boys placed second overall, outpacing all other schools in the Milwaukee City Conference.
The team’s energy and determination were evident throughout the competition, drawing praise from coaches and officials. Despite battling injuries and late registrations, the team demonstrated resilience and competitiveness, setting a strong foundation for upcoming meets.
Girls’ Team Triumphs
The girls’ team edged out Milwaukee Marshall by nine points to claim the top spot. Key performances included Ashlee Bentley’s first-place finish in the 800-meter run (3:19.18) and a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash (1:14.48). Emerald Joiner dominated the long-distance events, winning the 3200-meter run (20:27.10) and finishing second in the 1600-meter run (8:45.48).
Other notable finishes included:
Paress Love’s first-place finish in the long jump (12’4”)
Siriya Sanders securing second in the 55-meter hurdles (11.16s)

Boys’ Team Delivers a Strong Performance
The boys’ team finished second overall, outperforming all conference rivals. Aiden Lesak led the way with a victory in the 55-meter hurdles (9.60s), while Antwan Smith secured second in the 200-meter dash (25.78s) and contributed to a second-place finish in the 4×800 relay (10:00.00).
Additional standout performances included:
Dayshon Milions McCall taking third in the 1600-meter run (5:33.41) and second in the triple jump (36’1”)
Dre Comer earning second place in the shot put (39’1.5”)
The 4×160 relay team finishing fourth (1:27.32)
With this strong showing, the team looks ahead to the remainder of the season with confidence. The athletes will return after spring break, eager to build on their success and compete at full strength.
